Wildlife at Gorsebank

Wildlife & Conservation

You'll find an amazing abundance of wildlife amongst the 80 acres of meadows and woodland at Gorsebank.

Since arriving in 2006 we have carefully worked with nature to improve and create habitats for birds, animals and our amphibian neighbours. Take a moment to stroll around and pause to see what you can observe.

Dawn and dusk are great time, particularly for getting a glimpse of barn owls or the otters.

By planting nearly 2000 trees to form wildlife corridors and nesting copses, to creating shallow wetlands, we've attracted so much diversity in quite a small space.

Whilst exploring you may also come across:

  • Roe Deer
  • Otters
  • Badgers
  • Red Squirrel
  • Foxes
  • Hedgehogs

  • Bats
  • Barn Owl
  • Red Kites
  • Buzzard
  • Heron
  • Kingfisher
  • Jays
  • Sparrowhawk
  • Fieldfare

  • Common lizard
  • Newt
  • Slow worm
  • Toad
  • Adder

Find a quiet corner and bird watchers can relax and observe the buzzards soaring on the thermals looking for their next meal, the sparrowhawk hunting the hedgerows or listen in to the jays' cackling call.

A great place for children to get close up to nature

Make exploring the farm more fun with our nature trail treasure hunt, or help us set up the wildlife cameras - to capture footage of the more secretive visitors. Then come and check them in the morning to see what was wandering around.
